Try Handforth Dean and Stanley Green retail parks.
Everything you can get in Poynton, you can get there. Except the Hairdressing/Beauty, take away foods/ restaurants and Charity/secondhand shops which account for over half of the retail shops in Poynton.

So the good and gentle folk of Poynton would go schlepping over to Handforth Dean or Stanley Green rather than spend a quid on parking and shopping locally? I don't think so Rostervor.

If the shops in Poynton offer the goods and services that people want, then people will shop there, despite having to stump up for parking. Parking charges won't make a blind bit of difference to local trade. Congestion might put folk off but as I've said before, you cannot just magic Poynton into being wider and free-flowing. Current congestion & extra traffic moving to and from Waitrose will hopefully be allieviated by shared space. Shared space won't cure it - all the traffic isn't going to suddenly disappear but traffic moving fluidly, rather than stop/start, WILL help.

Adorable Adora. You wrote:

Comment: It's unbelievably true that you cannot just magic Poynton into being wider and free-flowing. 'Shared space wont cure it.' (your words) 'All the traffic isnn't going to suddenly disappear.' (your words) ' but traffic moving fluidly, rather than stop/start, WILL help.' ( apply your 'hopefully' here) So I'll ask you to comment on the effect of the proposed courtesy crossings - will cars stop? What happens at the trafic lights?... "Carry on Sgt Wilson"

You do not need to look any further than the new Morrisons store on Queensway , it is doing loads more trade than the previous owners ,Somerfields .

As far as I know all parking is free in Poynton at this moment in time apart from the Co-op car park, and even there you can park for the first 2hrs for free.

On both the Coop and Queensway carparks there are signs stating they are for customer use NOT public car parks.
The Civic Hall is a public car park.

No. It's just the the topic is headed 'East Cheshire backwards parking policy?'
East Cheshire has nothing to do with the Coop or Queensway.
